The selected experts will support the companies to access Public Procurement as important source to develop their business opportunities in these markets. They will deepen step by step many aspects like: eligibility requirements, assessment criteria, legal issues and main barriers for EU SMEs in target countries; public buyers, bid info sessions, partnership requirements and main competitors.
TARGET PARTECIPANTS
The Digital training are free of charge and are reserved to Cluster managers and SMEs belonging to the EXTRA LIGHT partnership (European Lighting Cluster Alliance, Rete di Imprese Luce in Veneto; Cluster d’Illuminacio de Catalunya; Cluster Lumiere and Business Upper Austria –Building Innovation Cluster)
EXPERTS
The EXTRA LIGHT Consortium has selected MAKE TRADE INTERNATIONAL SERVICE AB., Stockholm Sweden (https://maketrade.se/#top) as expert for the Digital Training. Make Trade is an international platform and non-profit membership organisation founded in 2011 to enable business to expand internationally and make better use of both local and global business networks.
PROGRAM
The digital training program is structured in the three macro modules covering a wide spectrum of the key internationalisation and public procurement topics:
MODULE 1 Public Procurement in the USA and Canada – general features:
- Specific types and features of public procurement in USA / Canada of the respective FTA/GPA provisions addressing SMEs access to public tendering
- Information about the different procurement typologies (regarding works, supply, or services) and methods in which the public administrations handle acquisitions, solicitations and contracts – open for foreign companies;
- Who are the main buyers – who manages the public tenders, and how do they process the tenders – what is the tender procedure (online, paper documents, single-stage and/or two-stage procedure);
MODULE 2 Public Procurement in the USA and Canada – Eligibility requirements & assessment criteria:
- Eligibility requirements and specific issues (if any) regarding EU companies access to the national (domestic) tenders;
- Bids evaluation criteria and procedure – what criteria will be used to evaluate bid and assess proposal preparation
- Legal issues, regulatory requirements, certifications and standards (including ecological labels, packaging and labelling requirements) and IP protection;
- Main barriers for EU (lighting) SMEs to access the public procurement opportunities; main errors and “bad practices”
MODULE 3 Public Procurement in the USA and Canada – Meet the buyer & Build partnership & Know the competitors
- Importance of bidding conferences and the formal bid openings organised by public buyers, how to attend and how do the work?
- Eligibility aspects requiring partnerships with local companies/consultants etc.
- Outlook and assessment of main competitors participating in target public tenders (i.e., their experience, their cost structure)
TRAINING METHODS
Lessons will be held online upon mandatory registration for each workshop. All workshops will take place online be recorded and made available for SMEs as webinars for internationalization capacity building offered by clusters.
